“Search and Connect” is now available inside DandyID!

We have made it super easy to locate and follow people that you know or that have similar interests that you would like to follow.  Simply search for a person by Name, Email Address or Interest, click follow below their profile summary and whalla, they are in your live stream…

Live Stream is now the default home page, it streams your connections DandyID updates directly into your DandyID home page for easy following of conversations taking place.  At any time you can easily unfollow by simply clicking “unfollow” under their name.

The dev team is rocking us with a multitude of enhancements which also include real-time and schedule social network identity updates for Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and LinkedIn

We are always listening to your feedback on ways we can improve our service, keep them coming!

We are the first to admit that DandyID hasn’t had a lot of love for quite some time however over the past year we have been working quietly in the background to increase performance and plan out our roadmap for 2013.

We are totally pumped with what is on our roadmap but want to let you know about some of our recent enhancements that have taken place that will be coming to you very soon:

Some of you may have noticed a decrease in the time it takes to login or load up DandyID.  This is something that we have been and continually tweak/update to ensure we provide better performance.  We did some major overhauling like a major restructuring/code cleansing…  in addition to  investing in more servers & a more reliable hosting solution to provide you a much more responsive  service offering.

We certainly see the improvements in responsiveness and will continue to tweak and improve on a frequent basis!

We are listening to what the community wants and one of those wants was  for us to implement a “Status Update” feature where you can input what your doing or working on at any given time.  Having this easily updatable feature provides you with the ability to include a link to whatever you like in your status… so for those of us that care about link love… its super cool but not only can you update your DandyID status, you can now update Facebook, Twitter and soon to be Google+!  You can update your status real time or you can choose to schedule your updates for a later date!

There are more networks that are being added as we speak, most requested G+ and LinkedIn, they are on the way and we will let you know when they have been released through Facebook and Twitter…

If you have a particular feature request, or network that should take updating priority over another, just let us know and we will do our best to move it up in our network update priority list!

We are pleased to announce DandyID now offers a feature that allows you to toggle the visibility of your online identities, controlling which of your accounts are publicly shared.

This has been an extremely popular request. Having multiple social media identities doesn’t necessarily mean that you want to share all of them everywhere. For instance, some of your accounts may be less active, or perhaps too personal to display. Now you can independently select which identities you’d like to display on your public DandyID profile, and which identities you would like displayed on the extensions and plug-ins built on top of the DandyID API (e.g. the DandyID WordPress plug-in and Facebook application, etc. – see a list of plug-ins here).

You can find the new visibility settings in the “My Identities” section under the tab labeled “Visibility Settings“. Simply uncheck the identities you’d like to be invisible.

Also, if you have a pro-account, the identities that you choose to display will still be stats enabled. голова болит секс

Over the past year DandyID has invested heavily in building a very rich set of free services that cater to our core user base; and we are now seeing the fruits of this labor pay off with higher than expected conversions into to our recently released Pro Accounts (http://www.dandyid.org/beta/upgrade). Our users can rest assured that we will continue to add value (and features) to both our free and pro services. Furthermore, our most popular features (such as social identity verification) will remain free for everyone.

However, we also learned something very important from the last year and from the release of our pro accounts: several brand-conscious professionals and corporations (i.e. not just hardcore social media enthusiasts) are signing up for and appropriating DandyID as a platform for their brand. The interesting thing about this demographic is that they already have established brands in their respective niche industries, and they are now being forced – for better or worse – into social media. 

These professionals and businesses recognize that social media is transferring the balance of “brand power” into the hands of consumers. Corporations no longer own their brands in the conventional sense, nor can they control them with traditional methods. Instead, they must become part of the conversation, which means that to stay relevant they must participate in social media. We are excited to announce that the much anticipated DandyID Facebook app is finally available. This app – along with the DandyID WordPress Plugin and several other extensions - plays a key role in allowing you to share your complete verified identity within Facebook and across the web. The app displays a list of all your online profiles in the sidebar of your Facebook profile so that your friends can easily discover where else you exist online. All updates made via your DandyID account will be automatically synced with your Facebook profile in realtime (no need to refresh). In addition, if  you have a DandyID Pro Account then the Facebook app will also be stats enabled, allowing you track how your Facebook friends are engaging you online.

download shutter divx The DandyID module pulls the online identities from your DandyID account using your associated e-mail address. Like our popular WordPress Plug-in, this allows authors and publishers to truly identify themselves to their readers and contacts.

To view this module in action, check out the Who Is Corey Brown and Who Is Sara Czyzewicz lens. If you haven’t already, claim your own SquidWho page (“start a fanpage“), and follow the below instructions for adding the module.

How to add the DandyID module :

(Note: you need a DandyID account before using the module; sign-up if you haven’t yet!)

1 – Create a new Lens or SquidWho page

2 – Under “Workshop Tools” on the right, select Add Modules “Browse all modules”
3 – Enter “DandyID” into the “Search for Modules…” text box
4 – DandyID Module will display in the search results. Click the + add button
5 – You’ll see the DandyID Module under the right column titled “You’ve Added…”

6 – hit “DONE ADDING!”
7 – You’ll see the module “New DandyID” added to your page… click “EDIT”
8 –  Enter a title (ie: My Identities or Find Me on the Web)
9 – Enter the e-mail address you used to sign up for DandyID
10 – SAVE and you’re done!

A couple of weeks ago while we were at the SXSWi conference in Austin, TX, DandyID co-founders Arron Kallenberg and Sara Czyzewicz were interviewed by Sun Microsystems giving their best elevator pitch for what makes DandyID special.   The interview was part of Sun Startup Essentials “Spotlight Your Startup” contest. They did a great job, but now it’s up to you (our awesome users) to help us win by casting your vote for DandyID!

Gotcha!  This post was actually part of an April Fools’ Day joke.  Thanks for playing along, though!  We had a lot of fun coming up with this, and you have to admit, it would be rather cool…

We’re thrilled to announce today that we’ve partnered with New Dehli, India-based biotechnology company Barakhamba Biotech to offer genotype sequencing to our customers.  For $199,  you will be able to purchase a “spit test” kit directly from your DandyID dashboard.   The kit contains a saliva swab, instructions, and discreet, postage-paid, padded mailer.  You simply collect a sample of your DNA by swabbing the inside of your cheek, place the sample in the included protective plastic tube, and drop it in the mail to be sent back to Barakhamba.  In 10 to 12 weeks DandyID will receive a digital representation of your DNA genotype, which will then be tied to your account.

Why are you doing this?

DandyID is committed to helping users truly own their online identities.  Unfortunately, even though the web is getting more social every day, it is still a largely impersonal medium.  Because of that, identity fraud is a major issue.  By offering a way for users to tie their social identities to their DNA code — something that can’t easily be faked! — we’re offering an added layer of verification. Your genetic markup acts as a unique fingerprint that securely and accurately verifies that your online identities really belong to you.

Why have you partnered with Barakhamba Biotech instead of a more well-known, US company like 23andMe?

Barakhamba Biotech is one of the world’s most advanced biotechnology firms.  Their labs operate at CLIA-level standards, and Barakhamba is the only non-US lab to receive approval from the US Department of Health and Human Services to provide genetic genotyping services for diagnostic use in American hospitals.  Many local crime labs at police departments around the United States also routinely outsource their DNA testing to Barakhamba Biotech.

Because costs are lower in New Dehli than they are in the United States, we’re able to offer a world-class genetic analysis and identification service at a much lower cost.

What else can I learn from my DNA?

Though it won’t be in the in initial release, we have a number of amazing new features planned around your genetic information.  We’ll reveal these new features over the next couple of months, but here’s a taste: how about spot-on social network suggestions based on your unique genetic markers? how about being able to hook you up with new friends based on a never-before-available genetic matchmaking service?  The possibilities are truly endless!

Additionally, for an extra $99, Barakhamba can provide you with a range of additional information gleaned from your genetic code.  Learn about your ancestry, your predisposition to over 100 different genetic traits and diseases, and what sorts of things you may pass on to your children.

Will this affect developers that use DandyID’s API?

That’s one of the most exciting parts of this entire announcement: in July, we’re planning to roll out a new version of our API that will include hooks into users’ DNA information!  That should enable exciting, never-before-possible genetic mashups.  Imagine getting truly personal recommendations based on something as infallible as your genetic code, or resting easy knowing that when making an online purchase, your identity has been verified securely by your own genetics!

Of course, allowing your genetic code to be made available via the DandyID API will be a strictly opt-in program.  Further, for our US-based users, the 2008 Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) prohibits discrimination by health insurance companies and employers based on genetic information, which makes sharing your genetic information via the DandyID API a safe and rewarding option.

When will this be available?

We expect to launch this program on our site sometime in mid-May, with the API tie-in to launch a couple of months after that.  Keep an eye on this blog for further announcements regarding this exciting new parternship!
